Ensemble Ipse New Music Gallery - Launched January, 2021

The Ensemble Ipse New Music Gallery
is a repository of pieces for solo instruments, small ensembles, and electronics. The goal of the gallery is to provide a site where a broad spectrum of current music by emerging and lesser known composers can be experienced. It is our hope that this project will lead to greater awareness of contemporary music, and to further recognition of the participants in the form of performances and commissions.

Ensemble Ipse’s “New Music Gallery” was made possible by the New York State Council on the Arts under Governor Andrew M. Cuomo’s Regional Economic Development Council Initiative.

The Honourable Elizabeth A. Baker

[place] by The Honourable Elizabeth A. Baker, commissioned and premiered by Ensemble Ipse

Eschewing the collection of traditional titles that describe single elements of her body of work, Elizabeth refers to herself as a “New Renaissance Artist” that embraces a constant stream of change and rebirth in practice, which expands into a variety of media, chiefly an exploration of how sonic and spatial worlds can be manipulated to personify a variety of philosophies and principles both tangible as well as intangible. Elizabeth has received international recognition from press, scholars, and the public for her conceptual compositions and commitment to inclusive programming. Fanfare Magazine proclaimed in Fall 2019 “Perhaps Baker will be the Pauline Oliveros of her generation, and perhaps she will be more than that.”
